Next week on American Idol 2014, we will once again have both a guest musical performance and a guest mentor. The last of the American Idol judges, Keith Urban, will finally be taking the stage to offer up a tune. And Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Jason Mraz will serve as a guest mentor for the Top 5 finalists.
American Idol 2014 Top 5 finalists Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse, Jena Irene Ascuitto, Alex Preston, and Sam Woolf will be singing songs by America’s Request next week. Each of them will pick two songs from a ‘shortlist’ of suggestions chosen by producers from the thousands of fan tweets sent in to #idolrequest.
To help them out in milking their chosen tunes to the fullest effect, Jason Mraz will mentor each of the contestants for the week. If anyone knows how to bring out the ’emotive’ quality of a song, it’s Jason. This should be quite a treat for Alex Preston in particular, who knows Jason and actually opened for him in Boston a while back.
I’m going out on a limb and saying that Alex will NOT be eliminated next week.
ITA And i bet Alex and Sam are totally stoked for Jason to mentor.

Umm – Alex opened for Gavin DeGraw and Backstreet Boys at Mixfest in Boston – not Jason Mraz.
Hope he would stop caleb and jena from screaming. Want to watch them with a little at peace performace, we’ll see if they can still get the judgesa nd viewers without getting too loud. I love jena but in some of her songs i cant u derstand the lyrics and so caleb.
And the judges would say to alex this is expected becoz hes been expressive liking mraz lol… We’ll never know it moght be his road for an exit…
