Rumors last month regarding the American Idol 2015 in-house mentor turned out to be premature. Now FOX has officially confirmed that Scott Borchetta will replace Randy Jackson on Season 14.
Borchetta is the CEO of Big Machine Label Group and has worked with an impressive list of big name artists including Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, and many others. Scott is ready and wasting no time getting in to the driver’s seat as he’s been busily participating in the American Idol 2015 Hollywood Week helping Hopefuls with their performances. Nice!
Scott Borchetta spoke with FOX regarding his new role as the Idol Mentor for Season 14:
“There’s only one reason I’m doing this: AMERICAN IDOL has proven again and again that it can launch superstars. I believe that working with these young artists the same way we work with new artists at the Big Machine Label Group will help the next AMERICAN IDOL be as prepared as possible to continue the tradition of creating new superstars,” said Borchetta.
“The entire label group will be invested and we look forward to bringing our energy, focus and know-how to help develop this young talent at the highest levels.”
This is great news for the series and especially who will win American Idol 2015 as Scott’s label Big Machine will be heavily promoting the season’s champion in coordination with 19 Entertainment and Universal Music Group. Last year Caleb Johnson came out of the process without the same level of support and active advocate as this upcoming year will be able to offer.
We’re excited to see what Scott Borchetta can bring to Season 14 of American Idol when the series returns starting in early January 2015. Are you ready to join us? We hope so! Get more Idol with us on Facebook and Twitter.

Does his label have anything other than country stars?
Is American Idol severing it’s ties with 19/ interscope Label?
Big Machine, in conjunction with 19 Entertainment and Universal Music Group will oversee the launch of the winner’s recording career. I’m not expecting the next winner to achieve the heights of Carrie or Kelly but maybe they could have a career on the level of Scotty or Phillip Phillips.
I think this is going to be a smart move by American Idol. I think the smartest move AI made was to hire Keith Urban. Keith is a great judge, talented, easy on the eyes.
