Tyanna Jones sings “Rockin’ Robin” by Bobby Day
Another fun pick for Tyanna who has consistently given us fun performances and energy combined with her strong vocals. Keith is busily singing right along with Tyanna as she’s got the crowd warmed up for the night ahead.
Keith says it was a perfect song choice and a great way to kick off the night. He thinks it played to her vocal strengths. Jennifer says she’s got the throwback vibes that makes this song work and calls it “awesome.” Harry thinks it was subtle and strong. He wonders “what can’t you sing?”

Loren Lott sings “I Wanna Be Where You Are” by Michael Jackson
Things feel a little more reserved coming off that last performance but Loren is a great singer and carries the song very well. And there she goes with her range and that gets the Judges table smiling.
Jennifer says she really enjoyed it with really strong vocals and a natural talent. Harry says the bar has been set very high so far and thinks Loren nudged the bar up even farther. Keith says this Motown catalog was a great match.

Maddie Walker sings “I’ll Be There” by Jackson 5
A slow song for Maddie, but a solid performance that has a good shot at keeping her in the competition. Harry says that performance should erase any doubts about her still being there. He warns her about going sharp when she hangs too long on the notes.
Keith thought she did well to eliminate runs from that song that weren’t her style. Keith wants her to focus on the lyrics to help ease her nerves. Jennifer says that despite Maddie’s nerves she did really well and conveyed the innocence of the song.

Joey Cook sings “Shop Around” by The Miracles
More Joey Cook being Joey here as she completely overhauls “Shop Around” complete with lots of stage dramatics here of flailing hands and hair caressing. Wacky.
Keith asks if she’s freaking out and Joey says she is. Keith loves how she customizes the music. Jennifer calls her unique and beautiful without feeling inhibited up there on stage. Harry loves the artistry but he worries that she may be too stylized and thinks viewers may tire of it.

Sarina-Joi Crowe sings “You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me” by The Miracles
Sarina-Joi has really brought the song down to a slow ballad-ish type performance which keeps the energy low but it’s an impressive performance by this talented singer.
Jennifer says Sarina-Joi Crowe can really, really sing. She says she really believes in her and thinks she may be the best singer there in the competition. Harry thinks she’s terrific and calls it a nice job but she needs to work on her discipline to avoid singing flat. Keith praises her ability to keep her focus and not be distracted by the audience reactions.
How to vote for Sarina-Joi:
- Text: 5 to 21523
- Call: 866-IDOLS-05
Adanna Duru sings “Hello” by Lionel Richie
Alright, a new feel for some music tonight and it’s a welcome change. Sure, it’s a slow song but Adanna Duru gets things cranked up there at the end and really shows off her range. Very well done.
Harry says he’ll give Adanna an A+ for singing the lyrics, but she needs to work on singing in tune. Keith says she owned the song at the end and lifted the crowd. He wants more of that. Jennifer thinks there are many things she does well and while she liked it she didn’t love it. Jennifer wants her to be more careful with her song choice.
How to vote for Adanna:
- Text: 6 to 21523
- Call: 866-IDOLS-06
Jax sings “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye
Wait, is Jax messing with us by wearing the Black/Blue dress? Jax is so popular right now I’m not sure she could do anything wrong for her fans, but I was so distracted thinking about that dang dress I missed most of her performance.
Keith says she has such strong, original artistry and is really happy that she’s here. Jennifer says she knows she’s one of the most popular picks but she worries that she took the song too far away from its original way. Harry says she has a beautiful voice, but worries the song was wrong and the arrangement was too dull at this stage of the competition.
How to vote for Jax:
- Text: 7 to 21523
- Call: 866-IDOLS-07
Alexis Gomez sings “I Can’t Help Myself” by The Four Tops
Good way for Alexis to end the night. It was a high-energy and fun performance even if it wasn’t great. Jennifer says it good for the feeling but it was “really out of key and bothered me.”
Harry says Alexis Gomez deserves to be there though there were a lot of things he didn’t like about the performance and she needs to settle down and control herself. Keith comments on her going barefoot again and says he’s glad she was comfortable, but the song choice was just wrong.
How to vote for Alexis:
- Text: 8 to 21523
- Call: 866-IDOLS-08
What did you think of tonight’s results and the 8 girls’ performances? Who were the standouts and who should make it into the Top 12?
Ok…the comments after this night are going to be interesting. let the gnashing of teeth begin.
I only enjoyed Loren and Adanna. Didn’t see much to mention in the rest.
Alexis has to go!!! Poll has her at the bottom. She has no natural voice. You can tell it’s a fake twang. Her mega church friends are campaigning with “God has this one” implying that God is only for her. The ARROGANCE is appalling.
