With just three finalists left on American Idol 2014 it’s important to see where they all stand as we head in to Top 3 week starting tomorrow night. Your votes were cast in our “who was the best?” poll and we may be able to predict this season’s Top 2.
From your votes last week there were two stand outs: Caleb Johnson and Jena Irene. Jena lead the poll with 35% to Caleb’s 34% in what could be an incredibly close and tight race should these two contestants move on to next week’s American Idol finale.
Alex Preston took third place in our poll with 15% and was just a nudge ahead of Jessica Meuse who ended up being eliminated last week.
Obviously these polls are not the official numbers, but they often do parallel what we see happen on the American Idol results stage that week. If that’s the case again with our Top 3 rankings then there’s a strong chance that we’ll say goodbye to Alex Preston this week and hello to a Final Two with Caleb Johnson and Jena Irene.
However, just the week before Alex sat in second place behind Caleb which put Jena Irene in third. Anything can happen!
Looking back over the entire season, since the Top 13 week, either Caleb or Jena have topped the rankings for eight of the past eleven rounds. Of those eight, five belong to Caleb and three to Jena with her latest beating out Caleb by just one point. Now we’ll have to wait and see where Jessica’s fans shift their support this week.

in a perfect world the final two would be caleb and jena. in a perfect world adam, chris, and Jennifer would have won. I guess we live in an imperfect world, which would explain taylor hicks and lee dewyze. but then again, if you look at the careers of adam, chris, and Jennifer, the world IS perfect. either way, caleb and jena and Jessica will be stars
Jena and Caleb for the final! I expect JLO will also give Jena a “GREAT” song choice to help blow Caleb away this Weds.!
The producers decided a long time ago that Jena would be the winner. That is why she was put in as a wildcard over some other very talented singers. That is also why Jlo and Keith give her ridiculous praise week after week. Truly disappointed with the way this season has turned out. Was really looking forward to seeing a better judging panel after last years fiasco! The blatant favoritism was completely unfair and unprofessional in my opinion.Sad.
I see another winner. I remember Randy and Jlo pushing Jessica Sanchez much in the same way, she came in second..
I used to like Jessica Sanchez but clearly, PP is more talented. Everybody is adoring Jena or Caleb but Alex will be more successful.
It happens every season. Some fans accuse American Idol of one performer over the other. Having pre-selected the winner if you will. But, every season those same people are very quiet once the one who is supposedly showed the favoritism is voted off.
It’s Alex for me. I do agree that last week he came in third, but overall who do I like the most, and who will I buy an album from? Only Alex.
