This season, despite earlier reports, there will NOT be an equal number of guys and girls in this round because… it is a Top 31, not a Top 30. We actually ended up with one more guy than girl in the end. However, it won’t stay a Top 31 for long, as we have learned the viewers will be voting which person will not make the Top 30!

CORRECTION: We had earlier reported, based off one of our favorite spoilers sources, that former Top 40 contestant David Oliver Willis and new hopeful Keri Roche made the Top 31. This has turned out to be incorrect, as both reportedly were cut before then.
The above names, however, have been confirmed in the initial Top 31 selection by famously reliable, exclusive American Idol spoilers source The Idol Pad. Of course, no one can absolutely guarantee there might not be a change or two in the final Top 31 list by the time that round is aired on television. (Sometimes there are late disqualifications, etc.)
